WORKING GROUP

MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINATIONS AGAINST ALL STRAINS AS A PRIORITY

The Meningitis Working Group is now in its 6th year and its work is more important than ever. COVID-19 prevention methods (improved hygiene, lockdowns and social distancing) have had a very positive impact at reducing the case rate across Europe in 2020. However, any potential shift in Healthcare Professionals and Decision Makers’ priorities regarding the continued rollout and inclusion of meningitis vaccination for all strains could have a huge impact in 6-12 months time. The Working Groups aim is to examine the uncharted behavioural changes caused by the pandemic and provides guidance on how the medical communities and the policymakers could navigate through these times to avoid a meningococcal time-bomb that will cost lives.
